Our volunteers have collected apples from a tree along the State Road SS 17 in the stretch near Castel di Sangro where on Christmas Eve 2019 a mother bear was fatally hit, leaving her cub orphaned.
The cub was monitored by the staff of the Maiella National Park and the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, and survived the accident and the loss of his mother.
This action was carried out within the LIFE Bear-Smart Corridors project with the aim of preventing accidents with wild animals that could have crossed the road to feed on those apples.
