On Monday 25 June, work officially began on the earthquake-proofing of the municipal building in Pizzone, which, among others, houses the Bear Museum.
The work will continue for most of the year, and we expect to be able to welcome numerous visitors again in early 2026.
The museum is one of the venues and projects thanks to which we can tell the Marsican brown bear for what it is: a symbolic animal of the central Apennines, a key player in the balance of ecosystems. It contributes, in fact, to seed dispersal, soil fertilisation and the regulation of populations of other species. Its presence, moreover, has a positive socio-economic impact on local communities as its presence alone is able to attract an important flow of tourists and generate environmental awareness aimed at protecting and conserving its habitat.
The bear museum features an exhibition dedicated to the natural history of the plantigrade and its relationship with humans. In addition, there is a corner dedicated to environmental interpretation and a room equipped for showing documentaries.
