During the weekend of December 13 and 14, our association enthusiastically participated in the Christmas Market Exhibition organized in collaboration with Progetto Mediterraneo at the Margana Hall in Rome, an annual charity event that, this year, was dedicated to the protection of theMarsican brown bear and raising awareness about its conservation.
Our presence was a valuable opportunity to meet people, tell about the work we carry out in the field, and share the importance of possible coexistence between wildlife and local communities. Through information materials and our solidarity merchandising, we were able to explain how each contribution turns into concrete actions for the protection of the species and its habitat.
Within the exhibition, in fact, the Salviamo L’Orso booth offered dedicated merchandise-such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, pins, and caps-as well as informational materials to raise awareness of the mission and field activities aimed at fostering coexistence between bears and local communities. The Market Exhibition was not only a fundraising opportunity to support conservation projects, but also a time for direct encounters with citizens and visitors, allowing anyone in attendance to learn more about topics such as habitat protection, monitoring initiatives and the active role everyone can play in protecting this unique species in the world.
During the Market Exhibition, we also had the pleasure of presenting the book The Bear and the Ant, a publishing project that combines scientific popularization, images and storytelling to tell the story of the Marsican bear and the delicate balance that binds man and nature in the Apennines.
The presentation was held in the presence of authors Elisabetta Tosoni, Bruno D’Amicis and Umberto Esposito, with the participation of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, and writer Dacia Maraini, in a moment of discussion and sharing that was very much felt by the audience.
Events like this represent an important opportunity for us: to take the topic of conservation out of specialized contexts, create dialogue and strengthen a network of aware and involved people.
