Universal Civilian Service with Save the Bear: one year for nature and the Marsican bear

16 March 2026 | press releases

Do you want to dedicate a year to nature conservation and make a concrete contribution to the conservation of one of Europe’s rarest species? This year you can again do your Universal Civilian Service with Salviamo l’Orso, participating in field activities and conservation projects dedicated to the Marsican brown bear.

Choosing to do your Civil Service with us means living a direct experience in the territories of the central Apennines: fauna monitoring, maintenance of bear damage prevention works, support to awareness raising activities and work in close contact with biologists, operators and local communities. It is a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about conservation work, acquire practical skills and contribute to the protection of a species that is a symbol of Italian biodiversity.

How to enroll

To participate, you must apply online through theDepartment ofYouth Policy and Universal Civil Service (DOL) platform.
Once you are logged in, read the projects available in Annexes A1, A2 and A3. To apply with us, seeAnnex A2. If eligible, you will join the team for one year and receive a final certificate.

The deadline to apply is April 8.

If you are between 18 and 28 years old and want to dedicate a year to nature conservation, this is the right opportunity to get involved and make a concrete contribution to the conservation of the Marsican brown bear and its habitat.
